Honey Oak Home Tour

A home tour of a 1990’s house filled with honey oak

Welcome to Cottonwood Casa! This dated 1990’s home is filled top to bottom with honey oak – wood trims, cabinets, stairs, floors – just about everything! This yellow stained wood was so popular in the 90’s, can you tell? This house may be firmly stuck in the last century, but I can see the potential for something beautiful. Come on in and let me show you around.

Entry

The honey oak hits you as soon as you walk in the front door. Despite that, I love the dramatic curved staircase.

Goals for the Entryway: Remove the carpet from the stairs. Replace the tile and have continuous wood floors throughout the downstairs living area.

Dining Room

Not only is the beige tile ugly, but it looks like the tiles came from two different dye lots.

Kitchen

The kitchen has already been beautifully updated and has so much storage! Not much I want to change here!

Family Room

The family room has honey oak flooring and I guarantee there’s more honey oak under the white paint on those built ins. I’m looking forward to styling those shelves though!

Laundry Room

More honey oak cabinets in the laundry room with a version of the tired “Live Laugh Love.” This room is cute, but it can certainly be better.

Office

More oak floors in the office. The built in desk and bookcases are oak too, but are a slightly darker color.

Master Bathroom

More honey oak cabinets in the master bath as well as generic beige floor tile. The large master bathroom has lots of space and so much potential, but it definitely needs some work to make it shine!

Garage

This will be my husband’s domain and I’m sure he has grand plans or it. As long as its clean and organized. I hate messy spaces!

Thanks for letting me show you around. These are definitely the “before” pictures. I hope to have some progress pictures soon!
